Update on Upgrade to Web Plus V12:

We are pleased to announce that MCR has converted to Web Plus Version 12 as of August 1, 2011.

For WebPlus Direct Entry users:

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention recently released a new version of the web-based electronic abstract to document and collect cancer information for patients initially diagnosed and/or treated with a diagnosis of cancer in the state of Maryland. WebPlus Version 3.0 will include an expansion of the data collection requirements to correspond with and support the reporting standards of the North American Association of Central Cancer Registries (NAACCR) implemented in 2010. The Maryland Cancer Registry has completed conversion from WebPlus Version 2.0 to Version 3.0 with the new version of electronic abstracts available Monday, August 1, 2011; The MCR is in the process of preparing educational materials that will assist reporters in becoming familiar with changes within the Version 3.0 electronic abstract; as with WebPlus Version 2.0 the new version provides prompts that will explain the fields and data format required in these fields.

A brief overview of the format and documentation changes in WebPlus Version 3.0 include but are not limited to the following changes:

The current versions of all Web Plus applications conform to NAACCR Version 12.0 and Collaborative Stage Version 02.02. Future systems upgrades to NAACCR Versions 12.2 – 12.4 and Collaborative Stage Version 02.03 – 02.04 will be required by June, 2012.

WebPlus direct entry Reporters provide information from multiple facility types including hospital, ambulatory surgery, pathology lab, physician office and radiation oncology centers; examples in this e-mail are not inclusive of all the changes within the abstract. Non-hospital facilities may not have information to complete all fields but when available the information is invaluable for cancer reporting to the State of Maryland.
